BSA C15 Star 250cc 1958 - NOW SOLD!

The BSA C15 is a 250 cc single-cylinder OHV motorcycle manufactured by the British company BSA from September 1958 until 1967, and was BSA's first four-stroke unit-construction bike. It has a four-speed gearbox. A road-going Sports derivative, the SS80, was added in 1961.

I bought the C15 in October 2018 and wanted to verify its credentials so I sent off a cheque to the BSA Owners Club's dating officer together with frame and engine numbers and got back a certificate showing that it was made in 1958 and despatched to a dealer, Wallace the Cycleries of Lansdown Road, Bath in November 1958. It was originally finished in green which was quite a surprise bearing in mind how red it is now! The engine is from a later 1960 model, despatched to Chas E Cope and Sons Ltd in Wolverhampton in October 1960, presumably after the owner had blown up the original!.

It was in quite good condition when I bought it but had been laid up a while. The last MOT expired on 4th September 2008. Mileage at the time of the MOT was 26,480 so it has had very little use since then.

I have put a lot of work to improve it and get it running nicely.

The original registration number HAS 726 was taken by "cherished transfer" and a its current registration number 983 UXC allocated. As an "historic" vehicle, the registration is non-transferable. I have the new style "red" V5C, some old MOT certificates, the BSAOC dating certificate and a lot of receipts for parts!

Current mileage is 26,521 but that may increase before sale.

The bike is not "mint" or "concourse" but is in good all round condition. It runs well and, for a 250cc, it pulls like a train!

I documented most of the work that I have done on the bike and that can be found here.

Questions and viewings welcome.

The bike is located in Exeter, Devon, England.

Cash on collection or bank transfer. I will only remove from sale with a deposit. It is advertised elsewhere so this advert may be removed at any time.
